Guccio Gucci

Guccio Gucci, born 1881 on the 26th of March, was but a liftboy at the Savoy Hotel in London in Italy when inspiration first struck him. Luggage became his life and was heavily influenced by the elegance carried by the guests of this upper class hotel.

Moved by brands such as the then famous H.J. Cave & Sons for baggage, he commenced his voyage to a fashion-designing career with the making of traveling bags and accessories, founding his first establishment in 1921. No one knew how big his small Florentine family-owned leather saddlery shop would become, amounting to the great and widely known Fashion House of Gucci. He would quickly build reputation and his brand would become known for its quality items, able to personify anything he designed.
